Her VUE: Claire Wasserman, Founder of Ladies Get Paid

Authentic, Conscious, and Artistic are at the core of VUE by SEK. In an effort to stay true to our main mission, we are continuing our blog series Her VUE featuring inspiring women who share a similar core value of staying true to themselves, as well as making conscious choices, from purchasing to creating and to living as a whole. We hope this blog helps to evoke a powerful statement of the importance of self no matter who you are, or what you do.

We are thrilled to have Claire Wasserman here to share Her VUE. Claire is an educator, author, and founder of Ladies Get Paid, a global community that champions the professional and financial advancement of women. She is also a producer and host of John Hancock’s podcast, “Friends Who Talk About Money”. Claire has traveled the country teaching thousands of women how to negotiate millions of dollars in raises, start businesses, and advocate for themselves in the workplace. Claire was named one of Entrepreneur Magazine's 100 Most Powerful Women and is a highly sought-after expert for Fortune 500 companies working to improve diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within their organizations.

Please introduce yourself and tell us more about what you do/your business etc.?

I’m Claire Wasserman, the founder of Ladies Get Paid a platform and community that helps women advance professionally and financially. We have a private online network where more than 70k women from around the world share advice, resources, job opportunities, and more. We also host webinars and have an annual conference (happening on October 1st!) I’m also an author - my book (about how women can navigate their careers and make positive change), is coming out on January 12th!

What’s your Vue? Tell us about your personality and 3 things that really define who you are as a person.

  1. Empath. I’m deeply moved by the challenges women face and am driven to help people feel connected to themselves and to each other. I don’t want anyone to feel alone.
  2. Action-oriented. I’m an idea person but above all, an action taker. I can’t just sit around talking about how to solve a problem, I immediately get to work to try and actually solve it.
  3. Enthusiastic. I always take a positive view and throw myself into everything I do. I’m excited by life and am driven to get people around me to get inspired and excited.

Let’s dive into your look. How would you describe your overall style?

Right now my look pretty much consists of gym shorts and baggy t-shirts! Before COVID, I usually wore black leather pants, an oversized white button-down, booties with a fringe, and chunky jewelry (I’m a sucker for rings.) Another consistent look was a Canadian tuxedo, a black leather jacket, and camouflage Birdies. I’m part classic, part bohemian.

Expressing your authenticity is at the core of VUE by SEK, how do you think you express yourself best? Is it through your work, outfits, activities, relationships etc. or all of the above?

My work is a huge part of who I am, my values, and what I want to be remembered for.

How do you like to waste your time?
