Her VUE: Kara Ladd, CEO & Founder of Boundless

“I have a very purpose driven perspective that has evolved over time. My vue is like an esoteric spiritual-meets-purpose driven perspective that’s really defined me over the last few years.” Kara Ladd

Her VUE blog features inspiring women who share similar core values of staying true to themselves, as well as making conscious choices, from purchasing to creating and living as a whole. Kara Ladd exemplifies all of this beautifully and we could’t be more excited to share her vue. We hope you enjoy this interview as much as we did!

Kara Ladd is the CEO & Founder of the conscious conglomerate, Boundless, that includes Boundless Creatives, a boutique conscious, purpose-driven marketing consultancy and Boundless by Kara, her mindful lifestyle personal brand. Ladd began her career working in the fashion closets of Cosmopolitan and Italian Vogue. She eventually landed at a boutique sustainable fashion consultancy where she spearheaded creative and strategic marketing for high-profile clients such as Amazon, LVMH, Mulberry, The RealReal, and CFDA in addition to building out the digital infrastructure and growth strategy internally. Later, Ladd pivoted back into editorial, working as Hearst Digital Media’s E-Commerce and Partnerships Editor, where she created optimized digital content for all 28 Hearst sites. Her features achieved up to 35 million-page views worldwide. On a personal note, Ladd is a one-in-a-million synovial sarcoma cancer survivor. Her traumatic, yet enlightening health journey was the conduit that built what Boundless is today.

Please introduce yourself and tell us more about what you do?

My name is Kara Ladd and I am the CEO and founder of Boundless Creatives and Boundless By Kara. Boundless by Kara is a mindful lifestyle blog where I collaborate with brands, wellness, sustainable beauty brands, so we’re definitely aligned with that mission! Boundless Creatives is a purpose driven agency that I head with my business partner Alyssa Brieloff. We really help people discover their inner purpose so they can build impactful brands and bring this inner purpose to the outer world.

What’s your Vue? Tell us about your personality and 3 things that really define who you are as a person.

I have a very purpose driven perspective that has evolved over time. My vue is like an esoteric spiritual-meets-purpose driven perspective that’s really defined me over the last few years. If you follow me on social media or if you’re new to me, I’m actually a one in a million cancer survivor and it’s been such a beautiful evolution and journey over the past few years going from my mainstream perspective of me trying to fit into this mold that I created when I was younger and being able to breakthrough that over the past few years. I was able to turn inward and embrace spirituality and different perspectives which is very unique and something that’s defined me over the years both personally and professionally. Building Boundless Creatives and shifting from an entrepreneur mindset to a soulpreneur mindset has been such an evolution. Spirituality, for both my business partner and I, has been such a positive catalyst for change in our lives and has awakened our mind, bodies and souls to different brands, people and experiences. We’ve really up-leveled everything in our lives so we call ourselves soulpreneurs. Even with consulting or with more strategic projects that we work on, we work to infuse spirituality and mindfulness into everything that we do.

Jumping off of the esoteric perspective, I’m a cancer sun, so in astrology that means I’m a nurturer which really aligns with my professional life as a conscious consultant and coach. Nurturing individuals and being purpose-driven has been a huge part of my life, and I’m also a little bit of a homebody.

The last thing that defines my vue is the environment that I’m surrounded by and the people I surround myself with. I call my friends and family my army because, through my health journey, for better or for they have helped shape my vue and personality.

There’s that quote that you’re an average of the five people that you hang out with the most, and I honestly am a true believer of that. The people that you’re around are just a mirror back to you and they help you learn and grow through good times and bad. My family and friends are definitely big impactors in my life.

Let’s dive into your look. How would you describe your overall style?

I love this question because I had a career in fashion and editorial for a while and it’s something I hold near and dear to my heart today. I feel like my personal style is described as an urban bohemian chic. I definitely have some sleek city aesthetic, but also love eclectic bohemian style. I love searching for vintage pieces that are super unique and one-of-a-kind. All of my style and fashion has been grounded in mindfulness and sustainability. My first job out of college was in sustainable fashion consulting and that definitely laid the style foundation for who I am and the clothes I wear today. I’ve learned so much about how your purchase and how consumption decisions impact the world. I will never forget sitting down and watching the True Cost documentary because it really changed my life. After attending that premiere, I never bought fast fashion again. I was a Junior Consultant in New York City when I saw it and I didn’t have the money to buy very expensive sustainable clothes. However, it brought mindfulness in and finding unique ways to consume in a more conscious way, like second hand and consignment, to the forefront of my mind & mission. Sustainability is something I really take into consideration when it comes to my style and always pairing it with that eclectic bohemian swag.

How do you like to waste your time?

I love yoga and being outside. I love reconnecting with nature and, hopping off of that urban hippie aesthetic, I definitely embrace and embody that in my day-to-day. I write a lot in my free time and meditate, but I of course love to chill and watch Netflix too. I definitely have those mind-numbing moments, but yoga and being active is how I really like to spend my time.

Pre-COVID times I would say the number one thing I like to do is to travel and explore. Exploring is the best way to learn in my opinion. By seeing different places and talking to different people, I feel like I’ve learned so much on my solo travel adventures or traveling with groups on retreats. Those moments I’ve truly found to be the most soul expansive.
